Q: Can you explain what prana is?
A: Prana is life-force energy. We take in prana through the air we breathe (oxygen to enrich the blood), through live, organic food, pure water, and directly from mother earth. Have you ever laid on the ground for awhile or have felt the oceanic waters of the earth nurturing you? It’s that alive essence! Breathing prana, in yogic practice, is called pranayama. While breathing deeply (from the diaphragm), we can direct the life-force to any discordances in our organisms-on any level. It can become a process of directing the energy to the present condition, sometimes even an anomaly. It’s far more effective to direct the energy this way, than to expend the energy through the constant processing of things from the past or in the future. Let’s try to live in the present moment (Emotional clearing and integration does have its place though). The more life-force one has in the body, the more alive one is. It’s as simple as that.
